Dragonflyers

The Dragonflyers have been paddling on Cultus Lake since 2003, after practicing on Harrison Lake for two years. The Dragonflyers are a great mix of experienced and new paddlers who enjoy the camaraderie, exercise and fun of dragon boating. The fact that we get to practice at beautiful Cultus Lake all summer is an added bonus.

Although our team likes to have fun, we practice hard and do very well in competitions. Our boat full of women is not to be underestimated - we often beat mixed teams at festivals.

Practices can run from late March through September each year.  For the 2011 season, we are practicing three times per week.

We practice Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.  We realize this is a big time commitment and not everyone can make it to all three practices but members usually get out at least twice a week.

At our practices we work on endurance, technique and timing - all required elements of successful dragon boat racing.

We are competing in the following dragon boat festivals:

It gains in popularity each year.  This year, there will be 16 teams coming from across the province to compete and have fun!
